NaBloPoMo Day Five

Today’s topic: Tell us about your writing space. Where do you write your blog posts?

Currently, my “creative space” is sitting on my bed with my laptop in my lap, usually with Criminal Minds playing on the TV. I tend to seclude myself when I am focusing on posting anything or with any writing. I have plans to get my desk organized and functional, and then I may use that space for more structure. But it tends to be more comfortable sitting in bed anyways, especially since I like to search around for other blogs to follow when I am working on my posts, and I end up spending hours browsing and searching.

Favorite Characters of All Time

NaBloPoMo topic for today: Who is your favorite character of all time? It’s hard to choose just one character as your favorite when looking at all the books, movies, tv shows, plays, etc that are out there. Without dwelling on it too long, I think I can narrow it down to a few. Firstly, Jace Wayland/Lightwood from The Mortal Instruments Series (books). I am currently on the fifth book. I love the personality of his character: his humor, honor and the way he way he deals with all the touble he has to go through. He has a hard life but still stands by his beliefs as best as he can. He also is described as somewhat dreamy and not quite the same as the actor that portrays him in the movie adaptation. I also really like Clary Fray from the same series. I envy her the abilities she possesses. And i love to get lost in their world of shadowhunters. Another favorite would have to be Aragorn from the Lord of the Rings trilogy (movies, as I haven’t read this book series yet). He lives his life so selfless…and with great honor. His character is strong and wise. I particularly love him in Two Towers, my favorite of the three. Lastly, a character I greatly enjoy and would love to meet as a real life person would be Dr. Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds. His mind is amazing. It makes no sense how smart he is. I would love to actually interact with someone who was so intensely smart and able to recall literally everything. He also talks really fast, and I feel I could keep up because I can be so fast speaking myself. I was able to narrow it down to only four out of the millions of characters out there. Not too bad, I think.

They Say…

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why is my neighbor’s grass brown?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why is the boy-next-door’s face black and blue?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why do I always hear screaming next door?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why do I hear sirens in the street?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why is a stretcher being carried over that dead grass?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, but have you been next door?

Day two of NaBloPoMo

It’s that time of year again. The weather has started to turn colder. Jackets and scarves are becoming more of a necessity. It’s a busy time for both school and work…thus No-Shave-November!! Or as I have recently come to learn it as Noshember….and then of course to follow are Decembeard and Januhairy…I stumbled across an article earlier today regarding this topic, and it discussed the involvement of the female population….I wonder how many ladies out there truly would go a month without shaving. It is interesting how revved up men get over No-Shave-November. I find it a huge competition in my workplace. Even when it is not this time of year, the men with beards are always comparing whose is the best. They take great pride on their beards. But I guess that can be compared to some women and their hair. Either way…by the end of the month, we are destined to see big, burly beards everywhere…and those few youngsters who attempted to grow a beard but only ended up with patches. Good luck men!!….and any women who have also elected to participate! 🙂

Day one of NaBloPoMo

If you found one million dollars in the morning and had to spend it by nightfall, what would you do with the money?

Assuming that money would not be taxed, that is a lot of money to spend in one day. I would help my family become more financially stable…of which I have a huge family. I would buy a house, as I am renting right now and owning is more ideal. Not something super extravagant but a decent size that I could grow into. I would pay off my debts….which would be a huge relief. I would get my dad a newer truck which would help him for work. And I would prepay for the next semester of school, so that I can get back into the swing of going….I’m not sure if that would cover all the money….I would also get a new laptop that wouldn’t freeze in the middle of me typing….:( and lastly….a grand piano to go in my new home. I have dreamed of owning a grand piano since I was a little kid. Even though I am out of the habit of playing, I know I would pick it up again if I had such a fine instrument to play. To be put on the spot on how I would spend that much money, this is how I think I would do it. Having to spend it all in one day is the difficult part.

I am going to attempt to participate daily in NaBloPoMo. I have just learned of this and NaNoWriMo and I am excited to have an actual goal to go for with writing. I am new to blogging but was greatly interested in getting into the habit of writing daily as I would love to be able to actually finish writing a novel! Hopefully I will be a better writer after this month!

The Sleeping Child

The sleeping child that’s asleep in the bed,

Is snuggled and comfy holding his head.

Who knows what he’s dreaming?

He doesn’t care as long as we don’t wake him until he’ll be fed.

He looks so sweet,

Lying there he looks so neat.

But is he really asleep?

To be sure I’ll cover him with a sheet.

The sleeping child who should be waking soon,

Will wake up to there being no moon.

I think it’s safe to leave him alone,

We’ll get together later when he acts like a loony-toon.
