They Say…

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why is my neighbor’s grass brown?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why is the boy-next-door’s face black and blue?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why do I always hear screaming next door?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why do I hear sirens in the street?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, so why is a stretcher being carried over that dead grass?

They say the grass is greener on the other side, but have you been next door?

The Sleeping Child

The sleeping child that’s asleep in the bed,

Is snuggled and comfy holding his head.

Who knows what he’s dreaming?

He doesn’t care as long as we don’t wake him until he’ll be fed.

He looks so sweet,

Lying there he looks so neat.

But is he really asleep?

To be sure I’ll cover him with a sheet.

The sleeping child who should be waking soon,

Will wake up to there being no moon.

I think it’s safe to leave him alone,

We’ll get together later when he acts like a loony-toon.
